Peerflux Incorporated

Endless Chaos Game Policy

I. INTRODUCTION

These Game Policies will serve as a guiding principle in all aspects of the game, ranging from the use of your account to other related issues such as proper game behavior, and what would happen to your account if you do an infraction.

Please do remember that although we do try to cover all issues and aspects of the game with this policy there will be instances that with this extensive list there will always be a case that the issue isn’t covered here. If such instance happens, we, the Endless Chaos team, will decide on what’s best for the majority of the players.

Please keep in mind that this Policy will not supersede the policies of Facebook; however, these policies will only be in supplement to the one outlined in Facebook’s Statement of Rights and Responsibilities (link: http://www.facebook.com/terms.php?ref=pf)

These policies work together with the Endless Chaos Terms of Use (ToU) and the End-User License Agreement (EULA).

II. POLICIES

Account Sanctions and Penalties. This is a list of possible penalties that your account may receive if an infraction has been made. This would, hopefully, clearly illustrate the extent of the penalties and that these penalties will be fair and available to everyone.

The five sanction levels

In the game we have what we call the Five Levels of Sanctioning, in which will be determined by the 1.) Frequency of the infraction, and by the 2.) gravity of offense committed. These two factors will determine what an offender will be receiving.

Ideally, the most basic of all infractions will receive a Warning. A warning may either be given via private message, or by note at the comments in your profile page. These warnings should ideally be given once, so if you receive one, it is essential to cooperate immediately.

Receiving a warning will not in any way affect your game access or gameplay.

If a player still does not abide by the warning given by the Game Administrator or by a Game Master, or has committed a serious infraction, he/she will then receive either a 3-Day or 5-Day ban on their character, depending on the offense severity. This is also given if a player continually disrupts or greatly affects the game experience of others.

Sometimes we will be forced to Rollback a certain player’s account if the items contain pertinent information that needs to be wiped, or because the player may have acquired an item illegally. In these cases they may receive a warning and the rollback at the same time, bypassing the ban periods. If, however, the infraction merited a ban previously, a full account wipeout may be in effect instead.

The last level of sanction here is the Suspension of Account. This only acts as a last resort, in which we will provide a Final Warning before the account suspension. Please bear in mind, too, that the final warning may be bypassed and that the account may be suspended immediately and/or character data wiped if the situation calls for it, especially if it is game security-related.

We are a Facebook game, and there are numerous players out there that we encounter, talk, share and play with. While we encourage chaos on the battlefield, there will always be players out there who prefer to cause havoc in the community. The aim of this sanction structure is to protect the honest enjoyment of our players and to maintain game integrity.

Game Master /Administrator Interaction Policy. These are the guys behind the guys (behind the guys!) that are behind the game. From time to time, you’ll be interacting with them either through the Fan Page, or in-game (via the message box), or even through Facebook’s Private Message. This will outline where to expect them, how to talk to them and what you could expect from them.

There are certain instances that a Game Master may contact you or that the Administrator of the game would be open or reply to your concerns in the Fan Page and/or forum. In these instances the reason may be to clarify an issue that you may have sent via the feedback form and the forums, or to answer general inquiries.

Game Masters and Administrators may contact you because of the reasons stated, and although we understand that certain issues may aggravate you, we do hope that during these interactions you would be in your best possible behavior.

Along these lines are as to what can be the possible ways that our staff may contact you.

These are:

In-Game Comment (via comment box in your profile). More often than not, we may contact you via this channel, in which we will be using accounts/characters with the [GM] allocated in their names.

As of 02 August 2011, the only GM in-game is _________.

Forum Contact/Reply. Our page administrators are constantly on the lookout at the forums for any issues that may arise in the game, and more often than not the forums is one of the ways that players convey these issues to us.

Only one official account will be eligible to answer, and this is the Endless Chaos Admin.

Facebook Private Message. We will be using our own GM profiles or Community Manager account. With this, information is deemed confidential and secure (except from people looking over your shoulder).

As of 21 December 2011, __________ is our official GM and Community Manager. [He/She] will be the person who will contact you via private message.

With these, we hope to be able to assist you in the best possible manner. However, there will be several instances wherein there are players what will try to take these services to their advantage, and we will go to great lengths to sort things out or to correct them. If ever that the player does not wish to do so, here are the list of possible offenses that can be committed:

GM / Staff Impersonation

Our staff members will always contact you via the proper channels as stated above, and will not contact you by other means. If you do receive an attempted contact by someone claiming to be one but not in the ways listed above, they are not members of Peerflux Incorporated and should be reported immediately to us.

If we find evidence regarding this, we will penalize this person accordingly.

False Claims / Defrauding a GM

There are certain situations in which we will need full cooperation from the players, especially in requiring information. With this we trust that every player we talk to will give us accurate information. If for this very reason we find out that a player has given us inaccurate information / misled any one of our staff, we will take this as an attempt to circumvent the system and we will sanction the player accordingly.

Disobeying or Ignoring GM Instructions

There will be times where we may come to you with a set of instructions, either for trying to accomplish something to help us or to refrain from activities that may infringe on our Terms of Use and/or End-User License Agreement. These instructions are sent in good faith, and we will never ask you to do something that will violate any item in our Game Policy. It is our job to do everything we can to make your gaming experience as enjoyable as possible, and disobeying these instructions will count as interference and will be dealt with accordingly.

Harassing the GM Staff

We value our player’s time, and we aim to be very efficient in resolving each and everyone’s concerns. Trying to get attention to an already resolved/closed issue by harassing the team with multiple messages containing the same information will prevent us from resolving other player’s concerns, and will be treated as interfering with our job. Help us, help you.

Excessive use of Abusive Language

We understand that there are cases in which you would be very upset about certain issues, and your grief is very understandable. It is during this time that we will show you that you will be treated with the utmost value as our customer. With this, we hope that we would communicate properly, and using abusive words will be counter-productive.

Naming Policy. Choosing a name is one of the first challenges that one faces in playing a game, and by that name one is represented by it no matter where they go. This section outlines the rules governing names, and what may happen if one violates them.

Violations of this policy will result in one or more the following:
• Be assigned a randomly generated name
• Be temporarily suspended from the game
• Be given a Final Warning, any further ToU violations will result in permanent suspension

An explanation of Account Penalties Policy can be found in the [Account Sanctions and Penalties Section]

At the start of your adventures in the Kingdom of Ferion, you will first come upon the task of creating your character name. A name for you must be chosen, with great care, to represent you in all your adventures, interactions and in recognitions in the game.

However, it is in this instance that we would like to stress that there are certain limitations on how you would select and create your own character names. Each violation has been grouped according to gravity below, and along with it corresponding actions against them. Also, there may be some cases that might not be included in any of these categories; Peerflux Inc. reserves the right to decide the best course of action on a case to case basis.

Harassment Policy. Peerflux, Inc. is limited to moderating the messaging feature here in the game (the comment box). For other messaging channels (e.g. Private Message, Wall-Posts), kindly refer to the Facebook Statement of Rights and Responsibilities (Link: http://www.facebook.com/terms.php?ref=pf) as specified in sections 6, 7, 10 and 12.

Bug Exploitation and HacksWe have a team that constantly tests the game to search, locate and destroy in-game bugs. However, there are certain cases in which there are a few that would be missed, and will persist up until someone discovers them. Some of these bugs are minor that are purely aesthetic and won’t disrupt gameplay, but there are other still that are totally major bugs that will either mess your gaming experience, or provide an unnecessary and unfair advantage to players that will affect the service.

As with other online games, there are several factors that we will consider in determining the appropriate sanction:

 Whether or not the exploit is performed intentionally, maliciously, and/or repeatedly
 Whether or not the exploit damages another character, their gameplay, the service itself and/or its economy
 Whether or not an attempt has been made to conceal the exploit’s use

If a player is found to have abused/distributed an exploit, he/she may:
 Be given a verbal warning if exploitation is unintentional and no attempt has been made to hide its occurrence
 Be temporarily suspended from the game
 In extreme cases the character will be banned permanently

Bug exploitation that we consider extreme includes, but is not limited to:
 Any exploit that has a severe negative impact on the game’s economy
 Causing disruption in service or intentionally crashing a server

Refer to [Account Sanction and Penalties] of the Game Policy for further information on consequences of this action.

Abuse of Game MechanicsAnother form of abuse is making use of actual game mechanics in order to get an advantage over their fellow players. While this may be walking a fine line between exploiting game bugs (where it is a programming mistake) and by using game mechanics per se, using the game mechanics to give an unfair advantage resulting into and/or leading to harassment, negative impact on other player’s online experience, or causing service instability will fall under this category. In summary, the offense is deemed valid if the player’s actions damage another character, their gameplay, the service itself and/or its economy.

If a player is found to have abused/distributed such game mechanics, he/she may be given a verbal warning. However, subsequent related offenses will result in temporary suspension from the game.

Refer to [Account Sanction and Penalties] of the Game Policy for further information on consequences of this action.

Unapproved Third Party SoftwareA Third Party Program is a program that is not included in the use or presentation of Endless Chaos in which its purpose is to modify and/or add and/or inject data to the existing game mechanic in order for the user to gain an advantage in game. These are but not limited to: Fast Stamina/HP/MP Recovery, Stat Edits, Skill Edits, and/or Invincibility. These will greatly harm and inflict a grave damage to the game’s balance, and by using so will cause disruption to the game’s service.

Keep in mind that if one does this, the resulting sanctions to their account will be but not limited to:
• Be temporarily suspended from the game
• Be permanently suspended from the game
• Have further action taken, up to and including account closure, based on the intent of the program

Refer to [Account Sanction and Penalties] of the Game Policy for further information on consequences of this action.

Data Stream Manipulation and Data MiningData Stream Manipulation involves a player altering data that comes and/or travels between the Endless Chaos Servers and the Endless Game Page, whereas Data Mining involves the player extracting information that isn’t supposed to be made public.

Data Stream Manipulation can either be both altering the outbound information or inbound, or both. Usually these actions result in the players generating illegal data on their characters that would lead to them gaining an unfair advantage over other players in any way; these data can also seriously damage our servers and cause system instability. Data mining, on the other hand, infringes Facebook’s Statement of Rights and Regulations (link: http://www.facebook.com/terms.php?ref=pf). While what we cover are essentially limited to our application, we will submit your information to Facebook, Inc. for proper action to be taken.

If any user has been found to be guilty of Data Stream Manipulation and of Data Mining, the user will most likely receive:

• Temporary/Permanent account suspension
• Have further action taken, up to and including account closure, based on the intent of the data manipulation/mining.

Refer to [Account Sanction and Penalties] of the Game Policy for further information on consequences of this action.

Scam Policy. While it is virtually impossible for any player to gain items from another player within the game, there will be certain instances in which there will be players that will try to gain player’s Facebook accounts and to use them in illegal activities. We will not be entertaining scam issues as is; however, the issue will be forwarded and brought to Facebook, Inc. instead.

In line with this, it is imperative for all players to be aware that any person claiming to be an employee or representative of Peerflux, Inc. and requesting your data for an event/prize are not who they claim to be. Peerflux employees will never ask for your personal data, even for any event.

Personal data includes, but are not limited to: complete address, contact #, bank information, credit card information, account access information (username/password), and/or secret password/information retrieval information.

Persons or accounts that you think are engaging in this activity must be reported immediately to Facebook.

Character & Item Restoration Policy. Although we go to great lengths to ensure the integrity of the data of your characters in the game and/or servers, there will be occasional instances in which you may lose your character, equipment, inventory items and/or gold. It is in these instances that our Game Masters and Support Staff will come to assist you. Here we will outline the policy that governs this issue.

Also, please remember that our logs are not indefinite, and we may be unable to assist cases that are many weeks old. It is important for every player to report such incidences ASAP so that we may be able to resolve it quickly.

Below are the categories or instances on which you may request a restoration here:

Virtual property lost for reasons beyond a players’ control
If we can verify that your loss of virtual property was the direct result of:

• A documented bug.
• Data loss due to a problem with our service (unless due to a global database revert).
We will attempt to restore the virtual property.

Virtual Property lost that is essential to class development
If we can verify you have lost possession of an item (for any reason) that meets of the following categories:

• Was previously in your inventory.
• You are unable to recover yourself.
• Is essential for proper class development (i.e. a quest reward needed to receive a class defining skill).
We will attempt to restore the virtual property.

However, there will be instances that we will not be able to recover your items:

Virtual property lost due to user error
If we can verify that your loss of virtual property was the direct result of:

• Accidental deletion (characters, items, and in-game currency).
• Accidental sale to a vendor.
• Falling victim to a scam (please refer to our Scam Policy for further details).
• Any other user error.

If your case falls under any one of the categories where you can be compensated, you are to contact us directly by emailing support@peerflux.com

Unauthorized Account Access Policy. Both Endless Chaos and Facebook have put in place security measures in order for our users to secure their accounts. Although you can never be too careful, there will be certain situations that there will be unscrupulous users who will try to usurp other player’s accounts for a lot of reasons.

For account access, Endless Chaos will abide by the Facebook Privacy Policy (link: http://www.facebook.com/privacy/explanation.php) and the Facebook Statement of Rights and Responsibilities (link: http://www.facebook.com/terms.php?ref=pf ).

In any event that this happens, we will not restore your character. We hope that by implementing this policy, all users will do everything they can to secure their accounts.

“An ounce of prevention is better than cure.” –Anonymous

We believe that by preventing an unauthorized access to your Facebook account is better than offering a restoration service, and by doing so we are preventing players who will make a career out of this service, as well as by losing access to your Facebook account, you are losing more than just your Endless Chaos character.

Below are tips / suggested steps for you to recover your account:

1.) Attempt to recover and secure your Facebook Account. This step is very important since we believe that by securing your account first, you’ll be able to prevent future access from other users than you.

A way for you to do this is to:

a.) Validate your Mobile # – If you have validated your mobile number, you will be able to track logins to your account.
b.) Change your email address – Changing this will at least prevent another login, since a new email address will be used to login instead of the old one
c.) Change your Password – Changing your password to one that has alternating caps and numbers will greatly make your password hard to guess.

For more information on how to secure your account, you may visit the Facebook Security Page (link: http://www.facebook.com/security?v=info ).

IMPORTANT
• Repeatedly violating any of the Terms of Use (ToU), including the ones detailed above, will often result in temporary suspension from the game.

• This policy is not language-restrictive. Names that fall under this policy will always be subject to the repercussions listed, whether they are inappropriate in English or any other language.

• Questionable names may not be changed immediately, but at a later date, pending further review. Peerflux reserves the right to change any names we deem inappropriate or that violate policy.

• Players found to be in violation of the above policies may be assigned a randomly generated temporary name for their character. A private message will be sent to the account with instructions on how to change his/her temporary name to one of their choice.

• Harassment Policy Peerflux, Inc. is limited to moderating the messaging feature here in the game (the comment box). For other messaging channels (e.g. Private Message, Wall-Posts), kindly refer to the Facebook Statement of Rights and Responsibilities (Link: http://www.facebook.com/terms.php?ref=pf) as specified in sections 6, 7, 10 and 12.

• Exploitation and Client/Server Manipulation Policy This policy will cover various activities that will pertain to actions in the game that are considered ‘cheating’.

Endless Chaos game is constantly in development—though in its state, EC is designed to give a level playing field offering all players equal opportunity to rise and dominate the game. Any other activity that is not allowed by game design will affect various aspects of the game such as class balancing, economy, or even a negative impact on player experience. Resulting from these actions may include an imbalanced player character, a bloated economy and an unstable server. These will seriously have a negative effect on player experience, and we will be taking measures in order to ensure that all players will have an enjoyable time in the land of Endless Chaos.
